New House Candidates

House District 19

Reagan Flaherty (D) is dropping out in this Southwest Virginia district, leaving Del. Terry Austin (R) unopposed for re-election. HD 19 includes Allegheny County and Covington City and portions of Botetourt and Bedford counties.

House District 82

Leigh Anne Bowling (D) is running in this Virginia Beach district represented by Republican Del. Jason Miyares. A second Democrat, Alvina Torres, did not qualify for the ballot. HD 82 includes portions of Virginia Beach. 

House District 84

Veronica Coleman (D) is the second Democrat to announce in the Virginia Beach district now represented by Republican Del. Glenn Davis. 

Earlier today...

Two candidates have announced their intentions to run for the House of Delegates since last Thursday.

House District 30

Ben Hixon (D) is the second Democrat to announce in the Piedmont area district now represented by Republican Del. Nick Freitas. HD 30 includes Orange and Warren counties and a portion of Culpeper County.

House District 55

Morgan Goodman (D) is running in the Richmond-area seat now represented by Republican Del. Buddy Fowler. HD 55 is anchored in Hanover County and also includes precincts in Caroline and Spotsylvania counties.

 

The next deadline for campaign finance reports is April 17. Candidates who filed paperwork with the State Department of Elections and/or began raising money on or before March 31 are required to disclose their finances on April 17.


 

VPAP maintains an unofficial candidate list that includes those who have a) filed paperwork with the State Department of Elections declaring their intention to raise money or b) have announced publicly they are running for office. The State Department of Elections will release an official list of candidates who qualified for the November ballot at some point after the June 13 candidate deadline.
