"Is Virginia experiencing a growth in the number of lobbyists who register each year? "

David Bailey

Richmond

Sept. 28, 2016

VPAP says: Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal reported that interest groups "frustrated with D.C. are swarming into state capitals, fueling legislative boomtowns." The figures in Richmond show no big surge. In the last 11 years, Virginia has seen a small, steady growth in the number of companies and trade groups that seek representation in Virginia. The number has grown from 874 to 958 -- an increase of 10 percent, or less than 1 percent a year.
