Population Down, Voter Registrations Up

In 2020, the population of college-age Virginians was slightly lower than it had been eight years earlier. But the number of registered voters age 18-22 rose sharply compared to 2012. Combined with aging baby boomers, this created growth in the state's youngest and oldest voters.
